Liposuction Vs Tummy Tuck
Whenever you stare at the mirror and see you protruding fats what comes to your mind? Do you feel out of place? Do you want to lose all that excess blubber from your body, but you feel too lazy to do any exercise? Then the best option for you would be cosmetic surgery. Well, that is if you can afford it and are not worried about the big risks. So in this situation you have two options; 1) Abdominoplasty or commonly referred to as tummy tuck and 2) liposuction. But before you decide which method is most appropriate let’s try to review the pros and cons of both surgical procedures. This will help you in deciding which route to take.
Liposuction (ins and outs)
For those of you, who have expressed some sort of interest in contouring your body, then you may have considered undergoing liposuction at one time or another. Liposuction is defined as a cosmetic surgical procedure that removes fatty deposits from underneath the skin. It is done through the use of a special piece of equipment which is designed to essentially break up those annoying fat deposits and sucks them out from under your skin. It is considered to be a safe and effective method in the removal of unwanted fats from your midsection and thigh areas. It’s safe as long as the procedure is performed by a highly qualified doctor.
The entire surgical procedure should be performed in a medical facility. So when looking for a doctor to perform the operation make sure that he or she is qualified and has had extensive training along with experience in the field. With that being said liposuction doesn’t have many drawbacks, except for the price of the operation and some minor side effects. As opposed to complications the side effects of liposuction are medically minor, but can be quite uncomfortable and at times painful for the patient.
Tummy Tuck
Like the name implies, tummy tuck ( abdominoplasty) is a cosmetic surgical procedure used to remove excess fats from the middle and lower abdomen region. It is an operation mostly performed on those who have just finished pregnancy or have gone a period of notable weight loss. It is much more expensive than liposuction with prices going as high as US$20000 in the United States. It does, however, guarantee the removal of excess fatty tissues from your belly. A process which exercise and dieting can’t do.
The risks posed by tummy tuck are much more dangerous compared to liposuction. The recovery process is also long and arduous, sometimes taking up to 9 months for a complete recovery. Complications may also arise during recovery, although rare, they are life threatening in some concerns. Complications from tummy tuck include bleeding, slow healing of wounds, asymmetry , formation of blood clots, and nerve damage just to name a few.
So which one is it?
So its tummy tuck versus liposuction. Its pretty clear that liposuction is the safer of the two procedures and it poses less threats. But in the end the decision is all up to you, the patient, so choose wisely.
